About MVA 2017

The Fifteenth IAPR International Conference on Machine Vision Applications will be held at Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan from May 8th-12th, 2017. The conference is co-sponsored by the MVA Organization, IAPR, and Graduate School of Information Science, Nagoya University.

The aim of  Machine, Vision and Applications 2017 ( MVA 2017) conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry, and to stimulate the exchange of knowledge through intensive discussions on the cutting-edge research topics listed below: Vision Sensing, Machine Vision Applications, Factory Automation and Robotics, Intelligent Transport Systems, Surveillance, Human Computer Interaction, Biomedical, Multimedia, and Life Science and Engineering.

The conference series evolved three times. It began in 1988 as the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) Workshop on Computer Vision, held in Tokyo, in conjunction with the IAPR conference in Beijing. At the next meeting of this body, it was named the IAPR Workshop on Machine Vision Applications, or MVA. Subsequently, due to the increase in the number of papers and improvement in their quality,  it renamed  again to the IAPR Conference on Machine Vision Applications, and this name has continued since MVA 2005, the ninth of the series.

This conference is organized by The MVA Organization. It is a professional society consisting of researchers on Machine Vision and Applications, mainly from Japanese academia and industries. The goal of the organization is to promote research in the field by sponsoring a conference series on machine vision and applications.
